The Barbican centre is the largest Art centre in Europe and gave its name to the area on London where it is located. The Barbican Estates, a concrete complex surrounding the Barbican centre, became a listed building and includes flats, maisonettes, terraced houses and also restaurants, a library and even a lake! The brutal concrete architecture does not appeal to everyone but people who settle there tend to call it a great place to live.
Barbican is ideally located a few steps away from the city centre and attracts young professionals who can reach Soho or the City within 30 minutes walk. Its conveniency makes it an above average area in terms of rental prices. You will find cheaper rents if you are ready to move a little further out towards Old Street, or if you are ready to take on a flatshare.
