Blackheath is a suburban area of London. It is located around an open, grassy plain (a heath) on the border of Greenwich and Lewisham, at the outer edge of inner London. The area on the south side is The Blackheath Village. On the north side, you will find the Blackheath Standard - a shopping area - and on the east side, a small part of Blackheath Halls, a conservatoire of music and dance.
At the end of the 18th century began construction of Blackheath Park, on the property known as the Cator Estate. The exclusive residential area was founded by John Cator, located east of the Blackheath Village. There are many good examples of Georgian and Victorian architecture, as well as some later buildings.
